Hello everyone! A huge well done to everyone that completed a tree project! Project work like this at home can be tricky, especially when we're not in school getting ideas and talking to each other about our work but you guys managed to pull it off! They are all so unique and interesting and I learned a lot about many different types of trees! Check out some pictures below of the completed projects! :)

Hello parents!
We have set up our classes on Mangahigh, an online maths platform where we can set work for your children to complete and then track their progress. It's a brilliant way to do a little bit of maths each day, for you to help your children and for us to see the progress the children are making :) You will get an Aladdin message with your child's User ID, password and School ID and this is what you use to log into the site. If you have any questions about it, feel free to email us with your questions :) Thank you for you efforts in getting to know this new technology with us! Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well, staying home as much as possible and keeping as much social distance as possible! I know I'm finding it increasingly more annoying to be confined to the house so hopefully working together this situation will end sooner rather than later :) We are continuing to be impressed and delighted with all the work that is being done at home! The focus on schoolwork is wonderful but don't forget that simple activities around the house like cooking, baking, gardening, art time and reading time can be just as beneficial and even more rewarding than spending too much time buried in copybooks and textbooks :) We are happy to see lots of people getting outdoors, helping around the house and getting involved in cooking. Kids learn an awful lot more that what you would think from those activities at home with you as great role models :) Check out some pictures that have comes in recently and keep them coming! REMINDER: Friday is the due date for all tree projects so send us a picture of the finished project on or before Friday. You guys are doing great!! Hello again everyone! The following are some extra little activities that might interest you during this time. If you have any questions, feel free to email and ask! They're all free and a wonderful way to clear the head of worry at this trying time. John Boyne Short Story Competition The famous Irish writer, author of The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas, is running a short story competition for 6-18 year olds! Using and writing recipes, adding and subtracting amounts, weighing ingredients etc. can be a super way to keep the brain ticking and thinking mathematically in every day situations :) Hello Redwood and Rowan Class!
We are so glad to see the amazing work that all of you are doing at home while we go through this very strange and unusual situation! We wish we were back at school working hard and having fun with you every day but we're all just going to have to do things a little differently for now. :) We hope you are all staying safe, healthy and happy at home and that everyone is being helpful and responsible; we all need to do our part :) Check out some pictures we have received of the amazing work people have already done at home over the past week! A reminded that next Friday is the last day to have your Tree Projects done and we cannot wait to see what you came up with! Keep an eye on this blog and on Aladdin for more updates and activities over the coming weeks :) Ronan and Shauna. Hello Parents!
This term, we are both running after school clubs again and we would love to see some new faces! Details of our clubs are as follows: Discover Nature - Springtime (Ronan) This term, Discover Nature will focus on the springtime! We will spend lots of time learning about soil, planting seeds, looking after seedlings, making and throwing seed bombs, looking at endangered Irish wildflowers and animals, catching and identifying insects and much much more! Last term was such a success, I cannot wait for another term of great fun. Science Club (Shauna and Hannah) This term, Science Club will be a great way for all our budding scientists here at PETNS to have opportunities to do a variety of experiments and investigations in a fun way with their friends! We look forward to having lots of fun making discoveries together! Choir Shauna will be running the choir again this term as Peace Proms is fast approaching! If your child was part of choir last year, they must attend Peace Proms as they are part of the original group. If you have any questions about choir, email Shauna directly at [email protected] As with all clubs, if you want to sign your child up for one, place 40e in an envelope which covers the whole term and place your child's name and the name of the club on the front. We hope you had a wonderful winter break and enjoyed the holiday season! Thank you all so much for your generous gifts at the end of Term 1 :) Term 2 is going to be full of activity for 3rd Class. Our themes include Clothes, Egypt, Springtime and Food and we have lots of exciting things planned! As well as that, we look forward to working with Fingal Music Academy again and until midterm, we will be working with Larry doing GAA! Starting this Friday, Redwood Class will be taught by Jennifer for 3 weeks. Jennifer is a student teacher and has a plan for her time here that I am envious of; the children are going to learn lots and have so much fun. As usual, we are available to talk to us at any time should you have any concerns, just send us an email to make an appointment or contact Ann in the office. Thank you all for your support in Term 1 and we look forward to your continued support and encouragement of your children this term. Ronan and Shauna This month, we learned about working with clay during visual art time! We used techniques such as moulding, scoring and coiling to create penguins and snowmen and then learned how to use slip, a liquid form of clay, to join pieces of clay together! We are looking forward to making a fabulous display of our clay work next week!
This week, we had so much fun singing Christmas carols and winter songs in Blanchardstown Centre to raise money for our school! The children sang their hearts out, much to the enjoyment of many passers by who commented on how well behaved and well presented everyone was.
We were very proud of them and thanks to their efforts, we raised €250 in just one hour! This money will be going in the fund for buying more ICT equipment for our school! |
